The Inspired Home Show and the IHA announces the national gia winners for 2022-2023: 27 outstanding home and housewares retailers from 26 countries around the globe.
Katherine Gaylord, a junior at University of Notre Dame, captured first place and $3,500 for Stack, a breast pump drying rack for the breast pump pieces. It helps nursing mothers who pump at work or in public restrooms to safely, easily and discreetly wash, dry and store breast pump equipment.
The Inspired Home Show and the International Housewares Association (IHA), the global sponsors and organizers of the IHA Global Innovation Awards (gia) program, announced the Global Honorees for the gia Top Window Awards during the “Enhance Your Visual Toolbox / gia Top Window Award” presentation by gia expert juror Anne Kong earlier today during Connect FALL.
Jamie Butler went from running a kitchen and homewares business from a retro-inspired truck that became a well-known attraction at farmers’ markets, to owning a much-loved store that has community firmly in its heart.
gia Global Honoree—Westwing Brasil—initially made its name and garnered its millions of followers online. Today however, its physical stores are proving to be just as popular, and as wonderfully creative, as its online campaigns and editorially led content.
Martin M. Pegler was a professor for thirty years in the Display & Exhibit Design Department at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. A leading expert in his field for over 60 years, Martin hosted seminars in the United States as well as in Latin America, Europe and the Pacific Rim. He authored over 80 books and his textbook, Visual Merchandising and Display, is used in universities around the world. Martin was presented with a lifetime achievement award by PAVE, the Planning & Visual Education Partnership that supports retail design education for students and educators. He was also inducted into the Visual Merchandising and Display Industries’ Hall of Fame.
Martin worked with gia from the beginning of the gia program in 2000, as an Expert Juror, and since 2016 as an honorary member of the gia Expert Jury. To honor Martin’s leadership role with the program, the Top Window Award was renamed the “Martin M. Pegler Award for Excellence in Visual Merchandising” in 2008. Also that year, he was presented with an honorary gia Award for Lifetime Achievement.
